The Warm Audio Fen-tone™ is inspired by a classic '50s ribbon mic built with upgraded, modern components to deliver iconic tones in a stereo pair. Upgraded premium components including a custom Japanese ribbon, Neodymium magnet, and CineMag USA transformer capture classic sounds heard on stereo guitars, stereo drum overheads, and group horns. A 26 dB JFET in-line preamp enables active use with low-gain preamps.
The Ultimate Ribbon Mic For Stereo Instrument Recording: The Warm Audio Fen-tone™ is a recreation of a classic 50s ribbon mic design with modern components, iconic tones, and feature upgrades in a stereo pair with key stereo accessories. Delivering rich detail at high SPLs, the figure-8 Fen-tone is ideal for many instruments, especially stereo guitar cabs, horns, stereo drum overheads, stereo piano setups, and more. In addition to custom, premium components, Fen-tone includes an in-line Warm Lifter preamp to add 26dB of clean, analog gain to setups with inferior or underpowered preamps.
Tight Lows, Rich Mids, No Harsh Highs: Fen-tone captures powerful bass & rich midrange, true to the sound profile of the most sought-after small-format modern instrument ribbon microphone. In addition to the bass and midrange emphasis, Fen-tone shows off its warm "forgiving" tone by taming top-end harshness above 15 kHz for smooth presence without exaggerated sibilance or harshness.

Tailor-Made For Stereo Sources: Fen-tone excels on loud stereo sources that require detail while handling high SPLs, like dual electric guitar cabs, drum overheads, pianos, and groups of horns. The upgraded components in Fen-tone deliver intricate midrange detail that helps guitars shine in dense mixes.
Selectable All-Analog 26 dB In-Line Warm Lifter Active Preamp: Fen-tone has a selectable, 26dB in-line discrete 5k Ohm high-impedance JFET Warm Lifter circuit onboard, making it easy to plug directly into audio interfaces or inferior preamps without volume, tone, and frequency loss.
Figure-8 Polar Pattern: Fen-tone has a figure-8 polar pattern which helps eliminate side-address noise when recording. That means that Fen-tone will pick up what is directly in front of it and behind it. This feature is great for recording two acoustic instrumentalists facing each other, playing into either side of the mic without picking up as much bleed as other microphone design.
